Christening - Mia and Grace
March 1, 2008
Holy Name of Jesus Church
Pocomoke, Maryland

Our little twin granddaughters, Mia and Grace, aged two-and-one-half years old, were baptized March 1st (the feast of St. David).

Fr. Porter, pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Pocomoke City performed a beautiful ceremony which was enhanced by much chatter and movement from seven children under the age of five.

Mia's godparents were Lara English (sister of Daniel) and Aaron Simpson (brother-in-law of Amber and husband of Mandy).

Grace's godparents were Dominic Santi (brother of Daniel) and Mandy Simpson (sister of Amber).

The highlight of the baptism was when Daniel had to hold Mia in a headlock in order for her to be baptized.  She screamed as if she was being slowly killed, and oddly enough, we all found it funny (see pictures).

I made the dresses which fit okay despite my having to fit them only from measurements.  They were different only in their sash color.

Amber bought the girls gold cross earrings to wear and their godparents bought them little Miraculous Medal pins which dangled from a sterling silver guardian angel.

Dan and I gave them silver cups with their names and birthdates engraved.  We had a great party afterwards that included the immediate family as well as Aunt Juanita and her family (Spencer, Bonnie, Trent, Mia, and Ava) and Donna and Don Shifflet (cousins of Amber).
