TUNIS MILLS HANGING TREE ..... There is a tree in
the Tunis Mills area known as “the hanging tree” due
to its abnormal shape. The locals tell that it is
believed that slaves were hanged from this tree or
that it was the site of lynchings. Area residents
tell of a legend that says when you sit under the
tree with your car off, you will begin to hear and
see the dead. It has been reported that some hear
the bodies drop onto the car from the horizontal
branch of the tree. True of false, the Tunis Mills
hanging tree is a favorite of ghost hunters and
those intrigued by hauntings.
