2006 Was a good
year for us -
a November update
Just a quick
note to say that the book I’ve been working on about
Snow Hill, Maryland is finally published and
released for sale. It was published by Arcadia
Publishing based in SC as part of their Images of
America series. It is a photographically intensive
book covering the history of Snow Hill over the last
300 years. For those of you not on the Eastern Shore
of Maryland, Snow Hill is a historic small town in
Worcester County (same county as Ocean City). The
release date for the book was 11/27. The Daily
Times out of Salisbury covered the book’s release in
an article you can find by following this link
DAILY TIMES ARTICLE ON SNOW HILL BOOK
The article tells about the book and how you can
acquire it. If any of you find the book in the
library or purchase the book, please think about
writing a review on
Amazon.com as reviews of this book (good ones)
will help with the acceptance of my next book by a
future publisher.
For those of you who are not from the Shore, have
never been to Snow Hill and / or probably never will
go to Snow Hill, the book will make for excellent
treatment of insomnia. Try it out… then write a good
review.
There are so many friends and family that I have
lost contact with. You are still important to
me and I think of you often. Allow me to catch you
up on highlights of my life over the past year
(condensed version).
• Lara moved in to our house with her husband David
and two pugs (dogs) to save money and go to school
11/05.
• Lara and David decided they wanted more privacy so
they took the pugs and moved out 11/06.
• Danny took a job in Virginia and stays near the
job all week coming home to visit with wife Amber
and children on weekends.
• Amber got scared staying by herself so she and the
twins (Mia and Grace 18 mos.) moved in before David
and Lara moved out – WOW.
• Dominic is freelancing as a graphic artist, still
living in Columbia and doing very well.
• Albert, Dan’s youngest is getting married in
December to Ruth who is from New Jersey very near
where Becky and Harry now live.
• Dan still works for Evans Builders in Salisbury
and has finally finished our downstairs bathroom and
is now digging up our one acre yard with heavy
equipment to bury pipes that drain off water.
Trouble is .. he contracted the heavy equipment at a
time when heavy rains came so now we have buried
drainage pipes in a sea of mud which the yellow labs
and Newfoundland love to roll in. Our yard is one
giant mud pit - looking a bit like a cemetery gone
bad. No chance of that changing until it
freezes. Then maybe we can ice skate…. mud skate??
• I still work for the State of Maryland – at least
for awhile. I am a political appointee, appointed by
the exiting Republican (Ehrlich) administration. I’m
waiting to see how Governor-elect O'Malley's team
feels about my still working for the State.
Hopefully they won't mind… but stay tuned.
• I had a bad car accident (4 cars) the day after
the election – November 8 and totaled the State car
I was driving. Not my fault – had minor injuries
which include blurring vision, back pain and knee
pain.
• We had a small house fire this year started by bad
wiring in the basement. It burned much of the back
porch which is only now being repaired.
• We still have three dogs, numerous chickens and
Baby the parrot who got out this past Spring and was
eventually found waddling down Charles Cannon Road
saying “Hello, Hello, Hello, Merry Christmas,”
• I lost 40 lbs most of which I gained when I quit
smoking. I look a lot better and people always say
“wow, you lost weight. Your face looks thinner.” I'm
tempted to reply, “Yippee… a smaller face … when I
had an ass the size of Texas … that’s what I want to
hear … thin face… yeah.”
• I have achieved two of my three 2006 New Year’s
resolutions. They were 1)write a book. 2) lose
weight. 3) work on handling conflict better.
Oh well.
Miss you guys and hope to see you in the coming
year…. Please look for the book Snow Hill and write
a review on Amazon if you get a chance to read it.
